Niwaki

In Japanese, the word Niwaki means ‘garden tree’, and is a term that refers to the way trees are grown, trained and pruned to fit in to the scale of a Japanese garden. Sculptor Jake Hobson founded Niwaki back in 1997 after getting influenced by the the Hanami festival in Japan, a celebration of the cherry blossom season. Niwaki now makes some of the finest Japanese secateurs, snips and and other Japanese gardening tools.

Haws

Established in 1886, Haws is the world’s oldest manufacturer of watering cans, and their products are as enduring as their reputation. Haws story is a tale of innovation and determination, and a dedication to quality and craftmanship. In 1884, while the founder John Haws was struggling to grow vanilla during his British colonial service in Mauritius, he set about designing his own watering can to improve his gardening fortunes. In 1886, he secured the patent on his watering can design, established the Haws company.

Errington Reay

The original founders, Robert Errington and William Reay, established their pottery at Bardon Mill in 1878, in the once water powered woollen mill. Since Victorian times Errington Reay has remained a traditional family run pottery and Errington Reay is the last commercial pottery in Britain producing salt glaze pottery. Errington Reay’s magnificent pottery is formed by the kilns reaching extraordinarily high temperatures in order to give the pots their stunning salt glaze finish.

Yorkshire Flowerpots

Yorkshire Flowerpots aims to combine its industrial heritage with modern designs to make
a durable and yet desirable products. The flowerpots are fired to temperatures in excess of 1050 degrees centigrade for up to 5 days in order to produce a blue core of incredible strength within the flowerpot – thereby rendering it frostproof. Each flowerpot is individually stamped and all of the larger are handmade by skilled craftsmen, each of whom has decades of experience in clay manufacturing.
